The Institute IEK-8: Troposphere at Forschungszentrum Jülich explores the chemistry of the troposphere, performs global observations, and simulates atmospheric chemistry and transport processes by numerical models. IEK-8 investigates the physical and chemical processes in the troposphere which have a major impact on the chemical composition of the atmosphere and thus on air quality and climate.
On this visit you will see
- SAPHIR: 280 m3 atmosphere simulation chamber, used to simulate atmospheric chemistry and SOA formation with focus on the utilization of plant emissions
- IAGOS: European research infrastructure for long-term global observation of essential climate variables in the UTLS with focus on our instrument packages for autonomous in-situ observations
- Regional and global modelling activities that we perform at the Jülich Supercomputing Center
- JOYCE: Jülich ObservatorY for Cloud Evolution, a collaboration between the University of Cologne, the University of Bonn and Forschungszentrum Jülich with its ground-based active and passive remote sensing instruments for aerosol, cloud, precipitation, and radiation observations
Logistics: bus taking you from/to conference center will be provided. Access to the research center is restricted and requires prior registration. Number of participants limited to 42.
